Research conducted by Department of Biochemical Analytics includes studies on the effects of different factors, namely lipid lowering drugs, on metabolism with a special focus on:
– mitochondrial enzyme complexes belonging to 2-oxoacid dehydrogenase family such as branched-chain α-ketoacid dehydrogenase and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, key regulatory enzymes of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism and Krebs cycle, respectively
– key proteins of lipolysis and lipogenesis in various tissues, including adipose tissue from different depots
– protein metabolism in skeletal muscle, including investigation of signal pathways regulating protein turnover
