Communiqué No. 4/2025
of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jagiellonian University Medical College
dated June 3, 2025

Subject: Distribution of the subsidy for the maintenance and development of research potential, specifically the portion allocated to research projects in 2025

Dear Colleagues,

Further to the provisional research subsidy distribution plan for 2025, signed on May 23rd of this year, the Authorities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jagiellonian University – Medical College, have decided on the allocation of funds for the University’s internal research projects conducted by Faculty staff.

This year’s allocation of funds to the individual internal Units of the Faculty of Pharmacy was conducted based on the Regulations for Granting and Settling Financial Resources from the Subsidy for the Maintenance and Development of Research Potential, dated August 28, 2019, and the following criteria:

  1. 80% of the Faculty’s budget constitutes the “publication component” – this pool of funds was distributed among the individual Faculty Units based on the results of a bibliometric analysis of staff scientific output for the four-year period 2020-2023, prepared by the Scientific Information Department of the Medical Library using the “Publications of UJ CM Staff” database;
  2. 10% of the funds allocated from the Faculty budget formed the “Unit size component,” based on the average number of research and research-teaching positions (FTEs) from 2020-2023;
  3. The remaining 10% represented the “project component” and was distributed among Units that, in the 4-year period preceding the subsidy allocation year (2020-2023), successfully obtained national and international grants.

Based on the aforementioned algorithm, and considering the submitted financial requests, an amount has been calculated for each organizational Unit of the Faculty of Pharmacy. This amount will form the Unit’s budget, to be managed by its Head. Within their allocated budgets, Heads of Units will decide on funding for internal research project proposals submitted within their Unit, and will retain a portion of the funds at their discretion as a “Unit reserve.”
In line with the direction of changes in the policy for utilizing subsidy funds, the following principles for the disbursement of funds have been adopted:

  • The limit concerning the value of the Heads of Units’ reserve has been increased and can amount to a maximum of 30% of the allocated funds. The final value is determined by the Head of the Unit.
  • The minimum value of each project is PLN 10,000 per project.

The distribution of funds, analogous to previous years, will be carried out via the DotStat application at: https://dotstat.cm-uj.krakow.pl/.
I encourage you to analyze the proposals submitted within your Unit so that when allocating funding, you consider supporting projects in the Unit’s priority research areas and those that form a basis for external grants currently being implemented or planned for implementation by the Unit. Information on the number of proposals that can be financed is available in the system.
Funds from the so-called “unit reserve,” intended for current scientific needs, may be used, among other things, to support individual scientific activities included in internal research proposals that will not be funded in the current allocation. I remind you about the two-year period for expending funds – those from the 2024 allocation must be used by the end of the current year, while funds from the current allocation are available until the end of 2026.
I kindly request that you complete the work in the system by June 6, 2025, and that printouts signed by the Head of Unit be submitted to the Department of National Programs at the UJ CM Project Management Center by June 16, 2025.
For substantive questions regarding this year’s distribution of funds, I encourage you to contact Prof. dr hab. Aleksander Mendyk, Vice-Dean for Science and Development. For administrative matters, please contact the Department of National Programs at the UJ CM Project Management Center, tel. 512-749-433 or dpk_cm@uj.edu.pl.

Sincerely,

Prof. dr hab. Marcin Kołaczkowski
