Professor Peter Kleinebudde, a distinguished German pharmacist, has been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Jagiellonian University. The ceremony took place on December 5th at the Collegium Maius.
Professor Kleinebudde received this prestigious distinction for his lifetime achievements in research and development, particularly for his innovative approach to drug design and manufacturing. His research focuses on improving drug formulations to make them more effective and safe for patients.
In the laudation delivered by Prof. Renata Jachowicz from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Jagiellonian University Medical College, the importance of Prof. Kleinebudde’s research on “patient-friendly” drug forms, which are easy to administer and particularly important in the treatment of children and the elderly, was emphasized. His contribution to the development of personalized therapy and treatment of rare diseases was also recognized.
Professor Kleinebudde is a graduate of the universities of Regensburg and Hamburg. He received his doctorate and habilitation from the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel. He conducted research at the universities of Halle and Wittenberg and in Düsseldorf. He is the author of numerous scientific papers and patents, and his achievements have found application in industrial practice.
He is active in international organizations dealing with the quality and safety of medicines. As an expert for the European Medicines Agency, he contributed to the introduction of the “Paediatric Regulation”, an important document in the field of medicines for children.
Professor Kleinebudde has been collaborating with the Jagiellonian University for many years, participating in joint research projects, publications, and conferences.
Upon receiving the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, Professor Kleinebudde expressed his gratitude and emphasized that he is honored to join the group of outstanding personalities honored by the Jagiellonian University.
