We are thrilled to announce the success of our Faculty of Pharmacy students from the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum. Klaudia Nanek and Justyna Zięć, members of the Student Scientific Circle of Pharmaceutical Care, operating under the supervision of Dr. Anna Gołda from the Department of Social Pharmacy, won first place in the prestigious Student Pharmaceutical Care Competition during the 8th National Pharmaceutical Care Conference held from March 14-16, 2025, in Wrocław. One of the conference’s highlights was the Student Pharmaceutical Care Competition, which consisted of two stages: theoretical and practical. The first stage involved conducting a medication review. This part of the competition required the ability to assess a patient’s pharmacotherapy in the context of additional information. The ability to critically evaluate pharmacotherapy is crucial in pharmaceutical practice as it enables the identification of drug-related problems and the optimization of treatment. The second stage of the competition involved simulating patient education regarding proper self-monitoring of blood pressure, adherence to therapeutic recommendations, and a healthy lifestyle, in the context of the competition’s theme, which was metabolic syndrome. This part of the competition emphasized communication skills, particularly the ability to convey medical information in an accessible manner. Effectively educating patients is a cornerstone of pharmaceutical care, influencing their health awareness and cooperation with physicians in the treatment process. We are extremely pleased to announce that in this demanding competition, the first place was awarded to students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, Klaudia Nanek and Justyna Zięć. Their success is even more significant considering that the competition included students from 12 branches of the Polish Pharmaceutical Students’ Society from all over Poland.
